Macedonian Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas
Skopje, 7 January 2022 (MIA) - Orthodox Christians in North Macedonia are celebrating Friday the Birth of Jesus Christ – Christmas according to the Julian calendar.
Liturgies are being held in all temples of the Macedonian Orthodox Church (MOC) across the country.
The main event is taking place at St. Clement of Ohrid Church in Skopje, where the liturgy is served by the the head of the MOC, Archbishop of Ohrid and Macedonia, HH Stefan.
HH Stefan, has sent a Christmas message of peace and blessings to the Orthodox faithful.
“The joyful feast of the Nativity of Christ is the savior’s day in which heaven and earth were reconciled, and the day when the Son of God, who is eternally born of the Father, was born in time,” HH Stefan says.
“On this day of salvation, let us also remember the recent trying times caused by the pandemic, which showed that man is too small and powerless to resist it alone,” he adds.
“All the troubles of modern humanity come from the moral crisis, all the misunderstandings between the nations are born from it, and all the problems that our generation faces every day arise from it,” according to the Orthodox pontiff.
“And, if we celebrate this Christmas with concern about the health situation in the world and its consequences, let us not forget the promise of the Son of God that He will be with us to the end of the world, that God’s love is above all temptations, and that the impossible for men is possible for God,” says the archbishop.
“Christ is Born! Indeed He is Born,” the head of the Macedonian Orthodox Church says, extending a Christmas message of peace and blessings to the Orthodox faithful, and wishes for happy holidays and a Happy New Year. mr/nn/
