Ljupcho Kocevski elected Chief Prosecutor

Skopje, 13 February 2024 (MIA) - Lawmakers elected Ljupcho Kocevski as Chief Prosecutor with 62 'yes' votes on Tuesday.
Kocevski was elected prosecutor in the Gostivar Higher Prosecutor's Office in 2008 and promoted to the Public Prosecutor's Office a couple of years ago.
The term of former chief prosecutor Ljubomir Joveski expired on December 25, whereas the Council of Public Prosecutors has elected Sonja Simovska as acting chief prosecutor.
The Chief Prosecutor is appointed by the Parliament, upon the Government's proposal, to a six-year term and a right for reappointment.
