Launch of digital campaign 'Warm Recommendations' for a warm home, cleaner air and better health

Skopje, 26 November 2023 (MIA) - The Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, in cooperation with the Embassy of Sweden and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, are launching Sunday a digital campaign for improvement of the ambient air quality titled "Warm Recommendations" (Topli Preporaki).

Research has shown that biomass (wood) incineration for household heating accounts for 45 percent in the PM10 and 68 percent in PM2.5 particle national emissions in the ambient air, and the number of households using wood for heating this winter is also expected to be high, the Ministry said in a press release.

Therefore, it adds, the first part of the digital campaign is dedicated to sharing good practices when using wood heating of homes and highlighting the importance of doing this properly through the right choice of material, cleaning and maintenance of heating appliances and chimneys, as well as proper handling of heating materials during incineration.

Follow our "Warm Recommendations" at the Facebook and Instagram accounts, and share them with family and friends, says the Ministry.
