Kovachevski-Bellen: Excellent cooperation with Austria reaffirmed, North Macedonia committed on EU path
Skopje, 29 March 2023 (MIA) - Austria's support to North Macedonia's Euro-integration process is continual and strong, and Vienna is committed to the region's faster EU accession, agreed Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski and Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, who is paying an official visit to the country on Wednesday.

PM Kovachevski and President Van der Bellen highlighted the long-standing friendship and excellent relations between the two countries, as well as the mutual cooperation in numerous sectors, the Government said in a press release.

Van der Bellen said Austria would continue to be vocal in its support to North Macedonia's EU integration, noting that the country is moving in the right direction and that path requires national consensus. On the constitutional changes, the President said the next step is not easy but North Macedonia can count on Austria as its partner on that road.

Kovachevski thanked Van der Bellen for Austria's selfless support and continued partnership over the past three decades, both in bilateral and multilateral terms, especially in the United Nations and OSCE, where North Macedonia serves as a chair-country in 2023.

Interlocutors agreed that North Macedonia serves as a factor of stability in the region and a credible partner of NATO and EU, which is especially important for the country's progress and its Union accession.

In addition, the PM stressed Austria's significance as one of the largest foreign investors in the country, noting the potential for a rise in the trade exchange, reads the press release.
