Kovachevski says meeting with Mickoski over caretaker gov't to be held after party bodies meet

Bitola, 20 December 2023 (MIA) - The caretaker government is a legal rule and there's certainly communication between the political parties in Parliament, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said Wednesday in response to a reporter's question whether a meeting will be held with VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski to discuss about the caretaker government.

A meeting over the caretaker government will be held after party bodies meet, Kovachevski said during Wednesday's visit to Bitola.

"It will be held after the party bodies meet. There will be a meeting, which I have already said will not be announced through the media, because such meetings should not be announced through the media, but it will be a normal conversation to realize what has been established, according to the law, i.e. distribution of posts in the caretaker government, the vote on the caretaker government in the Parliament," said Kovachevski.

Asked about Mickoski's statement in Sveti Nikole on Tuesday, who said that if a State Election Commission (SEC) member is not elected from the ranks of the Albanian opposition, VMRO-DPMNE will leave the SEC, Kovachevski said he had already commented on that issue, pointing out that the composition of the SEC is regulated by law.

"The Parliament and the Committee on Election and Appointment Issues should act in accordance with the law and complete the SEC composition," Kovachevski added.

As regards VMRO-DPMNE's lists of MPs for the 2024 parliamentary elections, and who will head the lists by electoral districts, Kovachevski gave a brief response.

"SDSM will have candidates in the parliamentary elections who will defeat all the candidates you mentioned," said Kovachevski in Bitola.
