Shtip, 2 April 2025 (MIA) - Criminal behavior will be sanctioned, even if it involves those closest to me, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski in answer to a journalist’s question Wednesday over the arrest of a member of his security detail, Angel Saramakov, suspected of disclosing an official secret.
“You have to admit that this was never the case in the past, we remember many such ‘heroes’ who were near the prime ministers, who burned and pillaged throughout Macedonia and were feared. It is a public secret that they were the ones who did the dirty business for the prime ministers, I don’t need to name names, the public knows them. I just want to send a message to the citizens that regardless of who it is, even if it was a brother or a sister of mine, if they betray the trust of the citizens, harm the honor of VMRO-DPMNE, the party that I come from, and above of all the Government and the country, they will be sanctioned in the fiercest possible way,” Mickoski said.
The Prosecutor's Office for organized crime and corruption opened an investigation on Tuesday against a member of the Prime Minister’s security detail, who is suspected of disclosing an official secret for the purpose of obtaining EUR 50,000 from the person impacted by the documents.
Considering the circumstances, the public prosecutor submitted a motion for a 30-day detention, which a pre-trial judge has approved.
