Kovachevski – Gjelstad: Promoting cooperation with Norway, support to European integration

Skopje, 1 June 2022 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski met Wednesday with Norwegian Ambassador to North Macedonia, Jørn Eugene Gjelstad, for talks on promoting cooperation with Norway in the area of economy, judiciary, defense – as NATO partners.
Interlocutors concluded that major challenges are facing the world and Europe in terms of energy and the food sector, due to the war in Ukraine, the Government said in a press release.
“Participants in the meeting voiced support for the progress of our country in the European integration process, as an issue of geostrategic importance for the region and Europe. Prime Minister Kovachevski said the Government is fully committed to supporting the living standard of the citizens in the country and to development economy, adding that the country is committed to fostering good neighborly relations solely on the basis of principle and European values, and foreign policy is hundred percent aligned with NATO and EU policies,” reads the press release.
PM Kovachevski thanked Ambassador Gjelstad for the sincere friendship with Norway, as a country that supported North Macedonia’s NATO membership and supports through donations the reform processes in key areas including judiciary, environment and defense.
“Interlocutors said it was time to promote trade relations between the two countries. Investment potentials in North Macedonia were highlighted, discussing about possible areas and ways of cooperation,” adds the press release.
