Ilinden observances begin, flowers laid at Nikola Karev’s grave
Krushevo, 2 August 2022 (MIA) – Tuesday’s observances of the 119th anniversary from the Ilinden Uprising began with a flower-laying ceremony at the grave the Krushevo Republic President Nikola Karev at the Makedonium memorial in Krushevo. Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski, Deputy PM Slavica Grkovska and Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski bowed and laid flowers at Karev’s grave. The Karev family also paid their respects, as did Vice Parliament Speaker Goran Misovski, a delegation from the President’s Office, Army Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin, the Krushevo local authority, representatives of the diplomatic corps, institutions, associations and political parties. Delegations also paid respects at the monument of the fallen Ilinden fighters in area Sliva, along with church services in the town. The central event will take place in area Mechkin Kamen at noon, where PM Kovachevski is set to deliver an address.
