Health Ministry: Significant investments in healthcare – new Kichevo hospital, expansion of Shtip, Tetovo hospitals

Skopje, 1 July 2025 (MIA) - At the proposal of the Ministry of Health, at a session Tuesday the Government adopted a report on the need for extensive reconstruction and further development of hospitals in Shtip and Tetovo, the construction of a new medical facility in Kichevo, as well as investments in equipment and digital transformation of healthcare at the national level, the Ministry of Health said in a press release.
“Due to serious structural and design flaws in the existing General Hospital in Kichevo, the Ministry is proposing the construction of an entire new hospital at a different location. The new facility will be designed as a regional health center that will serve the residents of Kichevo, Makedonski Brod, Plasnica, Zajas, Vraneshnica, and Demir Hisar,” the Ministry said.
The Ministry said it also proposed the further development and expansion of the hospital in Shtip with a new building for a Medical Faculty, a multi-story parking garage and the development of infrastructure in accordance with modern hospital standards.
To ensure the Clinical Hospital in Tetovo grows in a regional and functional health center, the Ministry said it has proposed the construction of two new buildings for specific diagnostics and therapeutic services, as well as the complete reconstruction and modernization of the existing pavilions improving conditions for patients and staff.
The Ministry also presented a national plan for the digitization of healthcare aimed at creating “a more efficient, transparent and connected healthcare system that will align with the European standards”.
“These initiatives aim to transform the system, ensuring a faster, more controlled and more inclusive healthcare system benefitting patients and medical workers,” the Ministry said.
