Skopje, 7 July 2023 (MIA) – Deputy Prime Minister in charge of good governance policies Slavica Grkovska held a farewell meeting Friday with the Austrian Ambassador to North Macedonia Georg Woutsas. The Deputy PM thanked the Ambassador for his personal support and Austria’s overall contribution to the reform processes in the country.
“Ambassador Woutsas noted that the integration of the Western Balkan countries within the European Union is one of the priorities of Austria’s foreign policy and to that end, he voiced hope that North Macedonia will deal with the challenges on its path and quickly become a part of the European family,” said the Government in a press release.
Regarding the constitutional amendments, according to the press release, Grkovska and Woutsas agreed that all involved politicians need to have a broad vision and consider the effects of their decisions on the stability and progress of the entire region.
“Grkovska and Woutsas touched upon the situation in the judiciary and the events in the Judicial Council, which will be assessed by an EU peer review mission, and agreed that changes in this part of the system should come from the very people that make up these institutions. The Deputy PM and the Ambassador emphasized the importance of political will and courage in the fight against corruption,” said the press release.
