Grkovska – Nephew: Digitization of processes an important element in fighting corruption

Skopje, 10 March 2023 (MIA) – Deputy PM in charge of good governance policies Slavica Grkovska discussed Friday the need for a strong preventive mechanism that will enable effective management of corruption and conflict of interest with the Coordinator on Global Anti-Corruption for the U.S. State Department, Richard Nephew.

Deputy PM Grkovska expressed gratitude for the support shown by the United States to North Macedonia, especially in the implementation of good governance principles, the rule of law and digitization, the Government said in a press release.

Grkovska briefed Nephew of the process of drafting regulations that should enable confiscation without conviction, which is in the final phase.

Interlocutors also discussed the need for judicial reforms and the responsibility that everyone should have in performing their duties.

Deputy PM Grkovska also said that the Digital Transformation Concept has already been adopted by the National Digital Transformation Council and is now available online for public debate.

In addition, Grkovska and Nephew discussed the process of European integration of North Macedonia, with the former saying that the full-fledged EU membership is a priority for the country, but everyone should be aware that the reforms, which are a precondition for the progress and prosperity of a country, depend on all, reads the press release.
