Skopje, 14 July 2021 (MIA) – Prevention principles are the same regardless of the variant – masks, distancing, hands’ disinfection – because we cannot live in a bubble. Citizens must have this in mind and consider this as a matter of their health, both when it comes to vaccination and prevention, said Health Minister Venko Filipche on Wednesday. Minister Filipche said no regional measures are contemplated when asked about the possibility of a local lockdown in Tetovo following a recent spike in cases. “We insist on vaccination both in places with active cases and in places where no cases have been registered. We are focusing on this at the moment,” Filipche told reporters. Four persons infected with the Brazilian variant are already in isolation, adding there are no new cases of the Delta variant. “A couple of variants are circulating but the principles are the same – vaccination and prevention are valid for all variants. Vaccination between 70-85 percent of the population would result in herd immunity,” noted Filipche.
