Ex-president Pendarovski attends Globsec forum in Prague

Skopje, 1 September 2024 (MIA) – Former president Stevo Pendarovski took part in the Global Security Forum, Globsec 2024, held in Prague.
Pendarovski participated in the panel “Western Balkans on the crossroad between the East and the West”, alongside Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, former Croatian president, Milo Gjukanovic, former Montenegrin president, and Catherine Ashton, former EU top official.
Speaking about the genesis of the Macedonian EU integration process, the former president noted that the project for united Europe as a whole hasn’t been implemented with a satisfactory tempo in recent years. It is the result, Pendarovski said, of lack of strategic vision in Brussels and the unsatisfactory tempo of national reforms in the countries aiming to become members.
According to him, the war in Ukraine thrusted a different strategic dynamic in the continent, which requires the candidate countries and primarily the newly elected institutions of the EU to find models to conclude the process in the interest of a better future for all the nations living in the region, Pendarovski’s office said in a press release.
