EU-Western Balkans Leaders' Meeting in Skopje, focus on Growth Plan

Skopje, 1 July 2025 (MIA) - A European Union-Western Balkans Leaders' Meeting dedicated to the Growth Plan will take place in Skopje on Tuesday, an opportunity to take stock of achieved progress and defining next steps to strengthen the region's European integration.

The summit, hosted by Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, brings together European Enlaregement Commissioner Marta Kos and leaders from the Western Balkans, ministers, senior EU officials, regional organizations and international institutions.

Two panels will be held within the event, the first dedicated to the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans and the second on specific mechanisms and support for the plan's implementation.

PM Mickoski and Commissioner Kos will hold a joint press conference after the first panel.

On Monday, Mickoski met Kos and highlighted the Government's commitment to EU integration, with dignity and through implementation of crucial reforms in the fields of rule of law, economic development and digital transformation.

"Today, I met with European Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos, who is paying a two-day visit on occasion of the EU-Western Balkans Leaders' Meeting. We discussed the region's European perspectives, with a focus on the implementation of reforms, realization of EU's Growth Plan for the Western Balkans and enhancement of the cooperation with European institutions. I highlighted the Government's strong commitment to EU integration, with dignity and through implementation of crucial reforms in the fields of rule of law, economic development and digital transformation, PM Mickoski wrote in a Facebook post.

He adds that Commissioner Kos welcomed the Government's reform agenda and reaffirmed the European Commission's support for the region's progress on the European path.

"I said the meeting reaffirms the country's important role in regional and European processes, and recognizes the Government's new reform energy, creating a predictable and stable future for all citizens," notes Mickoski.
