"The new power plants can supply electricity to over 160,000 households in 18 cities - Ohrid, Tetovo, Kratovo, Krushevo, Kriva Palanka, Sveti Nikole, Resen, Dojran, Debar, Vinica, Struga, Negotino, Gevgelija, Veles, Gostivar, Kavadarci, Delchevo and Makedonska Kamenica. The Sun is finally the backbone of the new Macedonian energy independence, and these numbers confirm that the energy transition is a reality. In addition, the system will also be balanced further through the construction of the Chebren hydropower plant," said ERC president Marko Bislimoski.

In 2022, ERC issued 267 licenses to power plants and a total capacity of 152,2MW, along with 419 licenses at the capacity of 350MW by the end of September 2023.
