Electricity price increase in 2023 minimal, if any: ESM head

Electricity price increase in 2023 minimal, if any: ESM head
Bitola, 12 October 2022 (MIA) – An electricity price increase, if any, will be minimal at the onset of 2023, said Power Plants of North Macedonia (ESM) director Vasko Kovachevski on Wednesday. Kovachevski told reporters that investments in equipment and operations of the ESM mines, along with cost cuts, have led to reduction of the production price of mining power complex (REK) Bitola to about EUR 58-60 per MWh of produced electricity. “Nevertheless, the electricity price offered by ESM does not depend solely on REK Bitola but also other capacities that operate on mazut. Therefore, the price increase, if any, will depend on the mazut price but also gas, in case TE-TO is also incorporated in the system,” said Kovachevski. He said the servicing of REK Bitola Bloc 1 is set to finish by the week-end, whereas the transformer station for Bloc 3 is scheduled to arrive by the end of the month, meaning that all three blocs of the complex should be operational as of the start of November.
