Skopje, 24 November 2023 (MIA) - Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi and USAID's Partnerships for Economic Growth Activity Director, Dejan Janevski, signed a memorandum of cooperation on Friday, aiming to increase productivity and competitiveness of the private sector, supporting economic efficiency, circular economy, and digitalization.
The goal is to effectively respond to the needs of companies through coordinated cooperation and exchange of information. Both sides will work on implementing pilot projects together with companies, and those successful will become active measures to support the Ministry's private sector program. These joint activities will help create measures and policies that align with EU's legal framework and continue supporting private sector development, the Ministry of Economy said in a press release.
Minister Bekteshi expressed gratitude for the continued support the ministry receives from USAID.
"Only through partnership can we help improve the business environment in our country," Bekteshi said.
USAID's Janevski said that cooperation with the Ministry has always existed and the act of signing the memorandum offers concrete guidelines for joint activities and consolidates efforts to increase economic growth in North Macedonia, the press release reads.
"We are partners with the private sector on the way to its growth and development, and creating partnerships is a formula for success," Janevski noted. ssh/ik/
