Skopje, 31 October 2025 (MIA) - The Criminal Court, and the entire judicial system, is currently facing a formidable challenge, i.e. the trial in the case of the Kochani nightclub "Pulse" fatal fire, which is of exceptional complexity and social importance, acting president of the Skopje-based Criminal Court Daniela Dimovska told the Annual Assembly of the Association of Judges of North Macedonia, which was held at the Supreme Court on Friday.
Speaking before colleagues from the Supreme Court, the Appellate Court and other courts in the country, as well as members of the Judicial Council, Dimovska pointed out that "this process will not only be a test of our legal preparedness, but also of our endurance, professionalism and independence."
"Each of us is aware that such cases are followed with great attention by the public, but this only further highlights our responsibility to remain consistent with the principles of justice and the rule of law. I believe that as a community of judges, united in the same values and standards, we will show that the judiciary has the strength, integrity and knowledge to deal with any challenge - without pressure, without fear and without compromising the truth. Let us continue to be an example of professionalism, dignity and mutual support. Only in this way can we strengthen trust in our work and in the judicial system," Dimovska said, as cited by the Criminal Court in a press release.
The Criminal Court, reads the press release, called on the competent judicial instances to fully engage, each with their own competencies, in supporting the court in organizing and ensuring conditions for the efficient conduct of the specific procedure with consistent respect for the rights of the parties, as well as the presence of the public, and in that regard, the court called on the competent Ministries to respond in a timely manner.
The trial in the case of the Kochani nightclub fire, which claimed the lives of 63 young people and left over 200 injured, will begin in the courtroom at the Idrizovo penitentiary on November 19. Judge Diana Gruevska Ilievska will preside over court proceedings, after the case was distributed to her through the ACMIS system (Automated Court Case Management Information System).
