Dimitrievski: ZNAM movement runs positive campaign

Skopje, 19 April 2024 (MIA) – We’re running a positive campaign, we don’t need to proclaim moratorium pledging not to attack our rivals, Maksim Dimitrievski, presidential candidate and leader of the Movement Znam – For Our Macedonia, said Friday commenting on a statement by VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski that the opposition party won’t attack opponents as part of the election campaign.

Referring to Mickoski’s call for Macedonian national unity, Dimitrievski in a statement to the media said his movement after the elections plans on promoting a declaration defining “the Macedonian red lines.”

“It would mean a higher level of cooperation at multicultural and multi-ethnic plan. Today, it is worse than it has ever been as a result of two major factors from the Macedonian bloc and one from the Albanian bloc. Such calls cannot free anyone from being held accountable,” Dimitrievski said.

He ruled out any chances for cooperation after the elections with SDSM’s current leadership, accusing both the government and the opposition of reaching an agreement before passing the controversial changes to the criminal law.

Although open for cooperation, Dimitrievski said, ZNAM will act as an independent political factor.

He reiterated that Macedonian national unity is one of the priorities of his movement.

“Regarding the restoration of the legal state, as the future president I will nominate competent individuals for the Constitutional Court and the Judicial Council,” Dimitrievski said pledging he would also reinstate the criminal law before it was amended.
