Skopje, 1 July 2025 (MIA) - Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska addressed Tuesday roundtable "Leveraging Private Business and Finance" within the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), held in Seville under the auspices of the United Nations.
Minister Dimitrieska-Kochoska presented the country's success story for promotion of green transition through combined financing and strategic partnerships, the Ministry of Finance said in a press release.
Dimitrieska-Kochoska referred to the Green Financing Facility (GFF) that the country has set up as support to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and vulnerable households for investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency.
"GFF is not just a financial instrument, it is a catalyst of transformation that ensures real, inclusive and measurable changes in communities," said the FinMin and noted that 57 projects by SMEs and 58 by vulnerable households have been supported thus far, resulting in energy savings and reduction of emissions.
According to her, GFF's success has come as a result of the partnership with the UN, EBRD and a network of domestic banks and leasing companies.
"Our vision for green transition is just, inclusive and focused on the most vulnerable groups. No one should be left behind," said Dimitrieska-Kochoska and urged international partners to join and boost the facility's scope and impact.
The conference heard that the model of combined financing - mobilization of public and private capital, technical assistance and performance-based incentives, reduces financial uncertainty and enables broader access to investments that are climate-smart and socially responsible.
Dimitrieska-Kochoska reaffirmed the country's commitment to the Agenda 2030 and the Paris Agreement, noting that global cooperation is key for a greener, more just and resilient world, reads the press release.
