Deputy PM Dimitrov attends online meeting within Open Balkan initiative
Skopje, 9 November 2021 (MIA) – Following the working meeting held in Belgrade last week, Deputy PM for European Affairs Nikola Dimitrov attended on Tuesday an online meeting within the Open Balkan initiative together with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama.
The meeting, the Secretariat for European Affairs said in a press release, was also attended by representatives of economic chambers from the three countries and relevant institutions, including finance, economy and agriculture ministries, as well as national food safety agencies, customs and tax administrations.
Meeting participants aimed to identify problems for facilitating trade, with special focus on import, export and transit, as well as practical ways to overcome them, as steps that should be undertaken until the next leaders’ meeting, set to take place in Tirana in December.
Deputy PM Dimitrov stressed during the meeting that aside from strong political will, mechanisms should be activated in order to produce results.
“Our next challenge is overcoming obstacles to proper implementation of measures and activities. Everything is possible if there’s joint commitment,” Dimitrov noted.
Meeting participants also agreed on a date for holding a working meeting at relevant institutions level and underlined the role of the Implementation Council.
