Copenhagen, 25 Оctober 2021 (dpa/MIA) — After abolishing all coronavirus restrictions recently, Denmark has been experiencing rising new infection figures for several days in a row. On Monday, the state health institute SSI reported 1,411 new cases within the past 24 hours. By comparison, new daily cases have averaged a few hundred since late August. Now for almost a week, the daily new case number has been in the four-digit range. According to the Danish news agency Ritzau, Monday's figure was the highest daily number recorded since January. The number of hospital admissions in the country rose by 19 to 186. The SSI did not record any deaths in connection with covid-19, however. Denmark lifted its last coronavirus restrictions on Sept. 10, including face mask obligations in most public places, with the government's confidence stemming from the country's high vaccination rate and the fact that the pandemic appeared to be under control. Despite the removal of restrictions in early September, the number of new infections did not begin to rise until October.
