COVID-19: 722 new cases, 26 patients die, 574 recover
Skopje, 3 September 2021 (MIA) — Over the past 24 hours, North Macedonia registered 722 new COVID-19 cases from 5,865 tests done in the country, and 26 people died from coronavirus-related complications, health authorities said Friday. According to the Ministry of Health citing Public Health Institute data, of the 722 new COVID-19 cases, 302 were diagnosed in Skopje. New cases were also recorded in Tetovo – 51, Kumanovo – 46, Strumica – 42, Gostivar – 39, Ohrid – 24, Veles, Kichevo and Shtip – 21 each, Kavadarci – 19, Bitola, Sveti Nikole and Struga – 18 each, Prilep – 16, Kochani – 13, Debar – 7, Delchevo and Radovish – 6 each, Gevgelija, Kriva Palanka and Negotino – 4 each, Berovo, Makedonska Kamenica, Probishtip and Resen – 3 each, Bogdanci, Valandovo and Vinica – 2 each, and Demir Hisar, Dojran, Kratovo and Makedonski Brod – 1 each. Of the 26 people who died from coronavirus-related complications, 6 died in Skopje (aged 77, 63, 58, 57, 52, and 47), 5 in Tetovo (aged 74, 73, 68, 67, and 62), 3 in Gostivar (aged 82, 55, and 52), 3 in Kumanovo (aged 84, 71, and 65), 2 in Kichevo (aged 78 and 68), 2 in Struga (aged 76 and 45), and one person each in Kriva Palanka (aged 23), Strumica (aged 73), Shtip (aged 67), Ohrid (aged 84), and Prilep (aged 83). Twenty of them died in hospital, while six died at home. In the past 24 hours, 574 people recovered from the virus. At the moment, 14,998 cases are active nationwide, of which 6,025 in Skopje. Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has performed a total of 1,175,766 tests, recording 178,879 COVID-19 cases and 157,868 recoveries. The death toll has reached 6,013.
