COVID-19: 2,269 new cases, 1,420 recoveries, 13 deaths
Skopje, 18 January 2022 (MIA) – North Macedonia registered 2,269 new COVID-19 infections after 7,038 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours, as well as 13 deaths and 1,420 recoveries, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday. Of the new cases, 1,169 were registered in Skopje followed by Bitola – 183, Prilep – 165, Kumanovo – 88, Kavadarci – 56, Gevgelija – 48, Ohrid – 44, Tetovo – 43, Strumica – 35, Kochani – 34, Gostivar – 33, Veles – 33, Kichevo – 33, Resen – 32, Struga – 31, Negotino – 26, Kriva Palanka – 24, Radovish – 24, Berovo – 24, Delchevo – 19, Valandovo – 15, Demir Hisar – 14, Sveti Nikole – 13, Kratovo – 13, Shtip – 11, Krushevo – 11, Makedonski Brod – 9, Vinica – 8, Makedonska Kamenica – 8, Pehchevo – 7, Probishtip – 5, Bogdanci – 5, Dojran – 5, and Demir Kapija – 1. In addition, 310 of the total number of new cases (2,269) are reinfections. Thirteen deaths were registered in the past 24 hours, including five in Skopje (aged 64, 66, 68, 79 and 82), three in Strumica (58, 61 and 66), two in Kavadarci (52 and 87), one in Kumanovo (73), one in Struga (77), and one in Ohrid (54). All patients died in hospital. According to the Covid-diagnosed fatality registry, 11 people died in the period between Jan. 3 and Jan. 16, 2022. At the moment, 17,218 cases are active nationwide, including 9,167 in the capital. Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has performed a total of 1,717,482 tests, recording 247,663 COVID-19 cases and 222,306 recoveries. The death toll has reached 8,139.
