COVID-19: 199 new cases, 556 patients recover, 32 die
Skopje, 6 September 2021 (MIA) — Over the past 24 hours, North Macedonia registered 199 new COVID-19 cases from 2,558 tests done in the country, 556 patients recovered and 26 people died from coronavirus-related complications, health authorities said Monday. According to the Ministry of Health citing Public Health Institute data, of the 199 new COVID-19 cases, 157 were diagnosed in Skopje. New cases were also recorded in Kumanovo – 6, Kavadarci – 6, Prilep, Gostivar, Kichevo and Debar – 4 each, Veles – 3, Bitola, Shtip, Struga, Sveti Nikole and Kriva Palanka – 2 each, and Bogdanci - 1. Of the 32 people who died from coronavirus-related complications, 13 died in Skopje (aged 80, 76, 75, 72, 72, 69, 69, 64, 61, 57, 55, 45 and 35), 6 in Tetovo (aged 81, 78, 77, 69, 62 and 53), 3 in Gostivar (aged 83, 74, and 68), 2 in Veles (aged 72 and 64), and one person each in Prilep (aged 80), Kavadarci (aged 72), Ohrid (aged 77), Strumica (aged 77), Struga (aged 79), Sveti Nikole (aged 57), Radovish (aged 49), and Delchevo (aged 71). Thirty of them died in hospital, while two died at home. In the past 24 hours, 556 people recovered from the virus. At the moment, 14,781 cases are active nationwide, of which 6,202 in Skopje. Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has performed a total of 1,190,914 tests, recording 180,243 COVID-19 cases and 159,365 recoveries. The death toll has reached 6,097.
