Skopje, 5 October 2021 (MIA) — Ninety-seven citizens of Afghanistan, activists of the National Democratic Institute, arrived at Skopje International Airport earlier today. They will be temporarily sheltered in North Macedonia until they travel to their final destination, according to a government press release.
After landing, the Afghan citizens went through usual airport security checks and were offered Red Cross and medical support, including PCR tests and vaccines.
“The Republic of North Macedonia remains committed to the global humanitarian action that aims to help the citizens of Afghanistan, who in the past have worked to improve human rights, democracy, and peace,” the government’s press release says.
The costs for this group of citizens are being fully covered by NDI. mr/
