Consumer prices increase by 2.7 percent, retail prices up 2.2 percent annually: statistics

Skopje, 7 April 2025 (MIA) - The Consumer Price Index in March, compared to the same month in 2024, increased by 2.7 percent, while the Retail Price Index was up by 2.2 percent, said the State Statistical Office on Monday.

Inflation measured through the Consumer Price Index in March 2025, compared to February 2025, was down 1.3%.

A decrease in inflation is the result of the decrease in the Consumer Price Index in the following groups: Food and non-alcoholic beverages by 3.0%, Transport by 1.8%, Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance by 0.6%, Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics by 0.5% and Miscellaneous goods and services by 0.3%.

An increase in the Consumer Price Index was registered in the following groups: Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, Clothing and footwear by 0.4%, Restaurants and hotels by 0.3%, Communications and Health by 0.2% and Recreation and culture by 0.1%.

The Consumer Price Index in the group Education remained at the same level as in the previous month.

The Retail Price Index in March 2025 compared to the previous month is lower by 0.9 percent.
