Skopje, 7 April 2023 (MIA) — The Public Prosecutor's Office investigation into the 2021 Besa Trans bus crash in Bulgaria in which 45 people died is nearing completion, State Public Prosecutor Ljubomir Joveski told Telma TV.
According to Joveski, the PPO had collected all evidence it needed except the Bulgarian forensics' report on the traffic accident. As soon as prosecutors received it, he said, they would reach their decision.
The state prosecutor declined to reveal who the subject of the preliminary investigation was or whether Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski was being investigated.
"This case is about to reach the Prosecutor's Office final decision. Our work is almost done. The only thing pending is the forensic report on the traffic accident from the Bulgarian authorities," Joveski said.
Refusing to speculate about the decision, he said it would be made by the public prosecutor who was pursuing the case.
"I don't think it's good to mention names," Joveski said.
He added that no evidence suggested the bus had had any mechanical defects. mr/
