Tetovo, 24 April 2024 (MIA) - The presidential candidate of the DUI-led ‘European Front’, Bujar Osmani, after the completion of the first round of presidential elections, held a press conference with the leaders of the parties from the coalition. Osmani stated that the preliminary results indicate a great victory for the ‘European Front,’ surpassing the Albanian opposition by over 40,000 votes and securing victories in nearly all municipalities nationwide.

“I want to thank everyone for the support for the ‘European Front’ and for my candidacy. This is a collective victory, and this victory only proves that the ‘European Front’ is becoming a major driving force for the European future of our country. Today, Albanians, Turks, Bosniaks, Roma have shown that they themselves decide their destiny and will never allow anyone else to decide for them. The will of the people today is clear and should be respected by all,” Osmani noted.

He emphasized that the results indicate ethnic divisions in the voting.

"There is still an impression that citizens have not fully transcended the ethnic barrier between Macedonians and other ethnic communities, which still speaks to a divided society. However, we hope that, awaiting the results, citizens have nonetheless sent a message of unity, which the ‘European Front’ has championed for North Macedonia - a state of equal opportunities for all citizens, coexistence, harmony, and a future within the European Union," Osmani said.

He thanked all the parties of the ‘European Front’ for the trust they placed in him to be their candidate, and on behalf of the Front, he conveyed to the voters that their vote is a commitment to the parties for the future policies of the country.
