Shtip, 7 March 2025 (MIA) - Our focus is on raising the minimum wage through social dialogue and collective negotiations between workers and employers, tailored to each specific sector, stated the president of the Business Confederation of Macedonia, Mile Boshkov, who participated Friday in Shtip at the national conference on gender equality and workplace discrimination, organized by the "Glasen Tekstilec" Association.
He highlighted that the Business Confederation supports the idea of all workers organizing and joining forces to negotiate in every sector, allowing them to set their own minimum wage.
“Regarding your point about the government stepping back from these negotiations, we must acknowledge and welcome this wise move, as we have always hoped that workers and employers would begin negotiating independently. Therefore, this significant step, expecting the state to enter into what I would call the minimum wage story, means that we must endure and create the conditions ourselves. That is why we advocate for negotiating the minimum wage independently,” Boshkov said.
He stated that negotiations between workers and employers regarding the minimum wage should take place separately in each sector through collective agreements.
