Bochvarski meets EIB representatives for talks on third phase of railway connection with Bulgaria

Skopje, 7 June 2022 (MIA) – As part of the Western Balkans Road Summit, taking place in Tirana on Tuesday, Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoj Bochvarski met with European Investment Bank (EIB) Representative Björn Gabriel and EIB Head of Division for Western Balkans and Turkey Matteo Rivellini.
Talks focused on the possibility of financial support for the construction of the third phase of the railway connection with Bulgaria, i.e. the section from Kriva Palanka to the Deve Bair border crossing, the Transport Ministry said in a press release.
Minister Bochvarski stressed that the construction of the railway along Corridor 8 is of economic importance for all countries in the region, highlighting the need for financial completion of the project.
Interlocutors also discussed implementation of the project for construction of water supply systems, through the Ministry of Transport and Communications with the support of the European Investment Bank. So far, over 150 sub-projects for construction and reconstruction of water supply and sewerage systems have been implemented through this project, within an investment of EUR 40 million.
