Besimi: Realization of 2023 budget proceeding well

Skopje, 22 August 2023 (MIA) – We have a good realization of the budget plan for this year on all grounds, and we have a greater realization during the January – August period compared to the same period in 2022, assessed Finance Minister Fatmir Besimi on Tuesday.

Besimi stressed that the realization of total revenue in the budget for 2023 so far stands at 60.04 percent, 61.7 percent for personal income tax, 81.3 percent for the capital gains tax, 51.5 percent for VAT, 58.4 percent for excise taxes, 54.4 percent for non-tax income and 65.4 percent for contributions.

“In the period between January 1 and August 18, VAT is up by 4.8 percent on a net basis. The total income is up by 12.5 percent compared to 2022, when it comes to the personal income tax it is up by 15.2 percent, for the capital gains tax it’s up by 6.7 percent, 4.8 percent for VAT, 5.9 percent for excise taxes, 9.9 percent for import expenses, for the rest of the tax revenue it’s up by 4.1 percent, and 19.3 percent for the contributions,” said Besimi in answer to a journalist’s question and added that there is a higher realization compared to 2022.

Regarding the list of products that will undergo a VAT rate change, Besimi noted that it was sent to the economic chambers on January 9, and added that it is available on the Ministry’s website.

“The law is expected to be adopted, and then the Government has to adopt a decision,” said Besimi.
