March consumer prices up 4.9 percent: statistics

Skopje, 7 April 2026 (MIA) - The Consumer Price Index in March, compared to the same month in 2025, increased by 4.9 percent, while the Retail Price Index increased by 3.4 percent, said the State Statistical Office on Tuesday.

Inflation measured through the Consumer Price Index in March, compared to February, was 0.7 percent. Retail prices in March, compared to February, increased by 0.9 percent.  

In March, compared to February, an increase in the Consumer Price Index was registered in the following groups: Transport by 3.4%, Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics by 3.2%, Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance by 0.6%, Recreation, sport and culture by 0.5%, Education services, Personal care, social protection and miscellaneous goods and services, Food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.4%, Clothing and footwear by 0.3%, Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, Information and Communication by 0.2%, Health, Restaurants and accommodation services by 0.1%.

The Consumer Price Index in the group Insurance and financial services remained at the same level as in the previous month.
