Skopje, 25 November 2022 (MIA) - Minister of Finance Fatmir Besimi held Friday a meeting with his Montenegrin counterpart Aleksandar Damjanovic in which the good economic cooperation between the two countries and the possibilities for its advancement were confirmed, the Ministry of Finance said. At the meeting, the two ministers referred to the general economic situation in the context of the crisis, the measures taken to deal with the consequences of the economic crisis, as well as the basic macroeconomic policies being implemented. They exchanged experiences on solutions applicable in the areas they cover. "Besimi and Damjanovic said that the agreements signed between the two countries to encourage economic cooperation and investments are being successfully implemented and that all available opportunities should be used to advance the economic cooperation between the two countries. That is why it was decided to review the possibilities and take initiatives to increase mutual cooperation, through more frequent meetings at an expert level," said the press release. Also, as the two countries are on their way to full membership in the EU, the ministers shared experiences as regards meeting of the criteria for accession to the EU. The Montenegrin minister offered to share Montenegro's experience in the chapters covering these departments with North Macedonia's Ministry of Finance. In doing so, it was emphasized that regional cooperation and the capacities of the countries to use the funds available to the European funds are significant. The exchange of goods between the two countries exceeds EUR 30 million and 2022 recorded an increase of about 27 percent. dk/ba/
