Berovo to name street after late Slovenian firefighter
Berovo, 1 December 2021 (MIA) – The council of the Municipality of Berovo has unanimously decided to name a street in the town in eastern North Macedonia after Žan Kofol, the young fireman from Slovenia who joined firefighting teams from abroad and the country to battle forest fires in the region in August. Kofol, who was a volunteer, died in a traffic accident near Nova Gorica on September 28, a day before his 20th birthday. “The young firefighter was part of a firefighting team from Slovenia who had arrived in the country to help put out raging fires in Berovo and Pehchevo. To pay tribute, the municipality launched a process to name a street after Žan Kofol. The initiative was backed unanimously by the municipal councilors, Berovo Mayor Zvonko Pekevski has said.
