Skopje, 6 October 2023 (MIA) - The Ministry of Economy stands behind the decision on decrease of prices of basic food products that was adopted a couple of weeks ago. There will be no concessions from the decision by November 30 at the least. All products encompassed in the decision will continue to be taxed at five percent, says Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi.

Regarding the decision of the Ministry of Finance for a preferential tax rate of certain food products, Minister Bekteshi says the list will be corrected if there are errors in it.

"If there is a technical error in the list of products encompassed with the decision of the Ministry of Finance, this will be corrected at the next Government session," Bekteshi wrote in a Facebook post.

He urges for calm and says the measures passed to protect the citizens' standard are working.

"The prices of basic food products can only go down, not rise," writes Bekteshi.
