Alternativa not part of working group on constitutional changes

Skopje, 8 April 2023 (MIA) - We believe that no working groups on drafting constitutional amendments should be set up if there is no political consensus among political parties over the support for such changes that would open the country's EU integration, said Alternativa secretary-general Zeqirija Ibrahimi on Saturday.
Ibrahimi said Alternativa could not sit on the table and discuss the topic with parties that have still not declared their positions on its proposal for constitutional changes related to the fight against corruption.
"As long as statute of limitations of court cases involving corruption expire, as long as the government and other parties stay silent over our proposal for constitutional sanctioning of non-statutory cases of political corruption, we do are not obligated to respond to their invitations for family photos that show our alleged willingness for constitutional changes," said Ibrahimi.
He added that constitutional changes are pointless if the country continues to sponsor political corruption.
