Almost 83 percent more foreign tourists in 2022 than in 2021

Skopje, 13 February 2023 (MIA) — Almost 83 percent more foreign tourists visited North Macedonia in 2022 than in 2021, according to the latest figures released by the State Statistical Office.

Between January and December 2022, compared to the same time in 2021, the number of visitors increased by 38.0%. The number of domestic tourists increased by 5.7% and that of foreign tourists increased by 82.8%.
 
In December alone, the country welcomed 48,913 visitors, of whom 40.8% were domestic tourists and 59.2% were foreign tourists. Tourist facilities provided 93,567 nights of accommodation, 42.5% of which to domestic tourists and 57.5% to foreign tourists.
 
In 2022, compared to 2022, tourists bought 23.1% percent more nights of accommodation in the country, with domestic visitors buying 3.7% more and foreign tourists buying 70.7% more. mr/
