Skopje, 19 May 2026 (MIA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski said in a social media post Tuesday Croatia has adopted a law enabling professional drivers to get long-term visas, which, he said, will help Macedonian professional drivers following issues that arose with the introduction of the EES system.

“A law has been adopted in Croatia with which professional drivers will be able to get long-term visas. This is a step forward in resolving the issue that arose with the introduction of the EES system in the Schengen Area. This law will be very helpful for Macedonian professional drivers,” Nikoloski wrote on his official Facebook page.

Nikoloski said the adoption of the law is the realization of an agreement reached with Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Oleg Butković in January.

“Switzerland is already issuing long-term visas. We expect other countries to join as well. We are continuing to work toward constructive solutions for all our professional drivers,” Nikoloski wrote.
