Skopje, 25 July 2026 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski has accused former foreign minister Bujar Osmani of distorting facts, saying he has no political credibility to comment on the government's policies.

The reaction comes after Osmani said that he "has been criticized for four years for saying that the protocols are not part of the Negotiating Framework," which Mucunski confirmed at yesterday's press conference.

"My interpretation as FM and jurist is that the protocols, the term used for the minutes of the talks, are not part of the Negotiating Framework", Mucunski told reporters.

FM Mucunski says in a Facebook post that Osmani "knew very well what he negotiated about, what he accepted and what position he left the country in."

He also refers to his political legitimacy, saying he was not even trusted by his people in Chair municipality (at last year's local elections) and is "the last person to give lessons on political legitimacy," while adding that many would show political responsibility and leave the scene after such a defeat.

The FM says the Government's position has remained unchanged since it took office.

"Unlike his spins, the position of this Government is clear and unchanged. For more than two years now we have been listening to accusations that we will give in and accept everything that was agreed earlier. Instead, we demonstrated consistency, principles and clear protection of the Macedonian national interests through our actions. This is clear both at home and among our international partners," says Mucunski.
