Klekovski: Number of Gostivar residents reporting for medical treatment dropping

Tetovo, 25 July 2026 (MIA) - Health Minister Sasho Klekovski said Saturday the number of Gostivar residents reporting for medical treatment is dropping.

"Today we have had 80 new patients, a double-fold drop from previous days, and we are definitely seeing a downward trend. The total number of patients is about 4,000. The epidemic is entering a calming stage, and we are starting the phase of epidemiological analysis in order to determine the chronology of events. Namely, we need to distinguish the epidemic cases from the ones experiencing regular gastroenteritis," Minister Klekovski told reporters.

Nevertheless, he added, latest analyses of the Gostivar water have shown it is not yet fit for technical use.

"In order for the water to be safe, one sees the amount of chlorine in it, which is not at the desired level as yet. Once it reaches this level, the water will be declared fit for technical use," said Klekovski.
