Skopje, 24 June 2024 (MIA) - Zlatko Perinski took over the post Minister of Local Self-Government from outgoing Minister Risto Penov in an official hand-over ceremony at the Ministry of Local Self-Government on Monday.
Interlocutors discussed the realization of current projects, implementation of local and regional development policies, IPA programs for cross-border cooperation, and financial support for municipal and mountainous regions, which are realized from the budgetary programs of the Ministry of Local Self-Government and Bureau for Regional Development, the Ministry said in a press release.
They also discussed possible challenges given that local development affects the quality of services and citizens' lives.
Penov wished Perinski success in the post in the interest of all citizens, saying in addition to financially supporting projects, it is also important to improve the functionality of local self-government by continuously improving requirements, accountability, and transparency.
The meeting also highlighted the cooperation between the Ministry, international organizations, and domestic agencies that continuously support the decentralization process, and development of municipal and mountainous regions. ssh/ik/
