Zijadin Sela resigns as Alliance for Albanians leader
Tetovo, 22 August 2022 (MIA) – Poor results at the municipal elections for members of the Tetovo municipal Council are the reason for Zijadin Sela’s irrevocable resignation as Alliance for Albanians leader, as he said during Sunday’s press conference at the party headquarters in Tetovo.
“The results in Tetovo are really beyond any of our expectations in relation to Tetovo and I am ready to take responsibility giving my irrevocable resignation as leader of the party,” Sela said.
He noted that in the coming period, the top party body, after two congresses, the Central Assembly, is to hold a session and decide on an acting president of the party.
In addition, he thanked all his supporters as well as supporters of the Alliance for Albanians, and called on them to keep trust in the party, adding that it will come out stronger from this process.
Asked why the party didn’t win a single council seat in Tetovo, Sela said more thorough analyses will be done.
“The analyses will be done in the party’s Central Assembly, and I think that from now on the party should take great care in terms of all this. Take care in the sense of responsibility of all those who sabotaged the process, all those who are members of the Alliance for the Albanians and worked against the Alliance for Albanians,” Sela said.
The Alliance for Albanians started to form in 2015, when Zijadin Sela as member of DPA at the time launched a movement for reforms in DPA. The party was then formed under the name Alliance for Albanians. On March 27, 2022, at the party’s second congress, Zijadin Sela was re-elected as party leader.
