Zekoli-Shaqiri and Celikkaya discuss road and railway infrastructure projects

Skopje, 14 August 2024 (MIA) - Deputy Minister of Transport Kaltrina Zekoli-Shaqiri met Wednesday with Muhammed Celikkaya, the Assistant Ambassador of Turkey, to discuss the robust investment cycle in infrastructure, especially highlighting road and railway projects.

According to the press release, the discussion also included the strong links with the Republic of Turkey regarding air traffic and international road transport between the two countries.

"The cooperation between the two countries is at an excellent level and should undoubtedly continue in all areas of mutual interest. Our air traffic relations are excellent, with Turkish Airlines operating seven times a week (daily) on the route between Istanbul and Skopje, according to the summer 2024 flight schedule. Additionally, cooperation extends to road transport, specifically cargo transport. For 2024, a total of 1,300 permits for transport to and from third countries and 3,150 permits for the entry of empty trucks for bilateral cargo transport have been exchanged. Additionally, eight bus lines for international passenger transport have been established, with carriers holding valid permits. At the same time, a procedure is underway to issue permits for international passenger transport on two routes," Zekoli-Shaqiri stated.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Zekoli-Shaqiri expressed gratitude for the strong support from the Republic of Turkey, according to the press release.
