Skopje, 18 April 2023 (MIA) – SDSM Secretary General Mile Zechevikj Vardarski met Tuesday with French Ambassador Cyrille Baumgartner, discussing current political topics with a focus on the country’s European future, as well as the global economic and energy crisis.

“European values and a European future are strategic goals that the pro-European coalition is committed to,” Zechevikj said at the meeting.

He said that France’s role in the European processes of solution through dialogue is important for the whole region. It was the French proposal and its conclusions that opened the doors to the EU.

“When it comes to Macedonia’s future, we have no intention of giving up on our European future. It’s a top strategic interest of the country, it is not personal nor a party interest. I expect support to increase even more in Parliament,” Zechevikj said, thanking Baumgartner for France’s help and support.

Interlocutors agreed that cooperation in both states is at a high level, but there is space for it to increase, which is in the interest of the citizens of both countries. dk/nn/
