Zaev-Duda: North Macedonia to start EU accession talks now as confirmation that European project is alive
Skopje, 19 November 2021 (MIA) – Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, accompanied by Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani, hosted a working lunch for Polish President Andrzej Duda, who is paying an official visit to North Macedonia on Friday.
PM Zaev thanked President Duda for his encouraging messages regarding North Macedonia’s EU integration and Poland’s support provided on several occasions for the Macedonian health sector, including the latest donation of 200,070 Pfizer vaccines, the Government said in a press release.
“Europe is our guiding star, the motivator of our development and we believe that the EU will not allow our hope to disappear,” said Zaev.
Interlocutors agreed that EU enlargement must continue through the start of the accession negotiations with North Macedonia, thus confirming that the European project is alive and attractive, especially for countries that implement all required reforms as North Macedonia.
After Brexit, the Union enlargement is important in ensuring new enthusiasm, new opportunities, new development and new economic markets, agreed Zaev and Duda.
They also stressed the close ties between the Polish and Macedonian people and highlighted the excellent conditions for further development of bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of economy and tourism, reads the press release.
