Skopje, 31 July 2021 (MIA) — Prime Minister Zoran Zaev welcomed Dejan Georgievski, the silver medalist at the Tokyo Summer Olympics in taekwondo, together with his coaches Darko Kostovski and Borche Kostovski, congratulated him on his achievement, and thanked him on behalf of the nation for being a role model to young people.
PM Zaev said Georgievski had shown nothing was impossible when talent is coupled with commitment and perseverance.
During the conversation, Zaev stressed that Georgievski's success was an incentive for the Agency for Youth and Sport to improve the conditions for taekwondo and other Olympic disciplines young people are drawn to.
Meanwhile, the government revised its decision to award Georgievski 1.2 million denars (USD 23,000) and will award him 2 million denars (USD 38,700) for his silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics, the country’s biggest Olympic feat in history.
He will also be awarded 600,000 denars (USD 11,500) from the Agency for Youth and Sport. mr/
