Zaev plans on resigning contrary to reports, says his office
Skopje, 2 November 2021 (MIA) – It’s not true that the prime minister plans to prolong tendering his resignation until December. The resignation is a clear act of taking responsibility, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev’s office says commenting on what they call “inaccurate press briefings” that the premier is planning the prolong the process. “Consultations are under way through which the party bodies as well as the coalition partners, with full support from PM Zaev, are working on solutions and decisions to maintain the parliamentary majority stable in order to secure a government that is maintaining the reform-oriented and progressive course of the country,” said Zaev’s office. On Sunday after the second round of the October local elections, Zaev announced he will step down as prime minister and as SDSM leader due to his party’s poor performance in the elections, stressing that the ruling coalition and the parliamentary majority are stable and will keep functioning.
