Skopje, 13 April 2026 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski has congratulated Péter Magyar, leader of the Tisza Party, for his win at yesterday's parliamentary elections in Hungary.
"Congratulations to Péter Magyar on the election results. The citizens of Hungary have spoken, and there is nothing more important than the democratic will of the people. We value the strong bilateral relations built over the years and look forward to continuing our cooperation - grounded in mutual respect, partnership, and our shared European future," FM Mucunski wrote in a post on X.
Magyar's Tisza Party swept to victory in Sunday's parliamentary elections, bringing an end to Viktor Orbán's 16 years in power. With almost all votes counted, Tysza is projected to win 138 MP seats, while Orbán's Fidesz only 55.
Tysza has exceeded the two-thirds majority (133 seats) that allows Magyar to push through reforms requiring constitutional amendments and replace key officeholders appointed under Orbán, powers that could otherwise be blocked by institutions such as the Constitutional Court.
