Zaev: Larger parliamentary majority possible after elections
Skopje, 15 October 2021 (MIA) — The Prime Minister and SDSM leader Zoran Zaev said there were announcements that the parliamentary majority would grow after the elections because of the opposition VMRO-DPMNE, Alternativa, and Alliance for the Albanians' nationalist rhetoric.
“We live in the second decade of the 21st century,” he told Kanal 5 in an interview. “All citizens should be equal.”
He added that citizens didn’t want quarrels with neighbors or with the rest of the world. He said they wanted the EU integration to continue and improve the country's economy.
Zaev also said some Members of Parliament were already giving their support to the parliamentary majority, which he said would become larger.
“After the local elections, there will be a period of 2.5 years without any elections. During this time anyone who wants to work will be able to work heroically, whether they are councilors, mayors, MPs, ministers, or the prime minister.
“People can all work together and join the progressive part of the country,” Zaev noted.
He said that all major decisions of the government were made to raise the living standard in the country. mr/
